great ideas

All the ideas that have been posted so far are great. We probably could try all of them. Please post any other ideas you may have to help clean up our neighborhood. The challenge here is to motivate the residents (kids and adults) to be proud of their neighborhood and keep the streets clean.

trash cans

I finally have been able to locate sellers of trash cans, but unfortunately the types I had in mind are not made in the US. The two sellers I have found are in Sweden and UK. The price for 1-5 cans is 99 UK pounds not including shipping. This amounts to about $182. I contacted them and they told me that they would calculate their best price dependent on how many we wanted and the shipping cost. I have pictures of the cans that are used in Iceland, which are make in Sweden and are made of metal. The ones that are used in the UK are of plastic and I also have pictures of them. I would like to post the pictures and get some input from OWENA members. As you all know I would like to see this happen but would like to hear from others. Then ofcourse funding is an issue as this might be costly.

Is there a way to get the city to pay for it rather than the Owena...or perhaps have someone try to write a grant for it. I'll look into grants. One of my friends works writing grants in california. 182 plus shipping is very reasonable plus the more we get the less they cost a piece,
