HOA Welcome Package

Posted in: Briarwick - Houston

I moved into Kingwood Place Village a year ago and the only thing I have received is an invoice for HOA fees and one for trails fees.  I have a friend that moved into Bear Branch a few years ago and they received a visit from someone with the HOA with a "welcome basket", information , etc.  For the amount of fees we pay, I have to say, it would be nice to be recognized/welcomed to the neighborhood with some info on the HOA.  I still have no idea what the rules, regulations are, anything about the meetings, board, etc.  I haven't even received an invoice this year !

No I did not get a welcome package.  However my neighbors did make me feel welcome. One brought over a dessert, another came by to say welcome.

What was really disappointing was when I went to attend a HOA meeting, it was cold in the room.  No one acknowledged my presence, or said welcome come back again.

As a matter the committee spoke as if no one was in the room but them.

I lived on the Northside of town before in the Inwood North Subdivision, and when I moved their I received a welcome package and when attending the HOA meeting I everyone was very friendly.

I hope this attitude changes with the new leadership!!!

Linda, so glad you asked this question. I have been living in my condo now for three years this month. There was no welcome other than one of my neighbors. I knew absolutely nothing about my association and area that I had moved to and when I called my HOA, I was treated like an imposition and still am to this day. I have two new neighbors that recently moved in and understand they are having the same problem. It is truly ashame that such a nice neigborhood has made me feel so unwelcome and nonexistent.  A newsletter about the neighborhood would have been nice and even a small welcome basket would have been great. Important Numbers, where the breaker boxes are, security numbers, where to vote, who is the local police...all those important things you should know. I am a divorced woman and this is my first home purchase on my own and was very proud and excited when I moved in. I think it is ashame that we pay our dues and get treated like stepchildren, sorry for the negativity, I still love my condo, wish someone would have made me feel at home.
