Minutes of Overland Neighborhood Association (ONA) [Overland Park Neighborhood Association {OPNA}] 1/27/10

Minutes from the last meeting were read and approved.
There was no Treasurer’s Report, as there was no Treasurer present. President Sandy mentioned a balance of $1136.75, and of her intent to spend $50 on INC (Inter Neighborhood Coop) registration, and $35 dues to INC, making a new balance of $1008.75
Officers Wallace and Evans reported that the broken windows project is completed, that theft from and theft of motor vehicles are up, but so are arrests. Burglaries are down 20%. Questioned about the meaning of tennis shoes on power lines, they said sometimes it means a drug sale nearby, sometimes "just people messing around." Police are currently taking a hands-off approach to medical marijuana dispensaries, unless armed robbery occurs. The non-emergency police line is 720-913-2000. Overland is in Sector 2 of District 4, which comprises the area from 6th Ave. to Englewood, Downing St. to the Platte River.
Elections were finally held. President Sandy and Secretary Samson were returned to office without opposition. Ronnie Crawford was elected Vice President, and Tracey Hardeman Treasurer, both without opposition.
President Sandy announced that Jeff Shoemaker of the Greenway Foundation would make a presentation at the February meeting. Also, she mentioned a proposal to reduce the Overland Golf Course to a "secondary park."
The meeting was adjourned at 7:32pm.
