Call to Order (CTO) at 6:41pm by President Catherine Sandy at John Collins Church, 2320 S. Bannock.
Minutes from the last meeting (10/25/09) were not read, due to their antiquarian irrelevance. There was no Treasurer??™s Report, as there was no Treasurer present. Payments for city registration, the church ($200 per year) and INC membership ($35) were approved.
Jack Unruh gave a brief history of the Shattuck Superfund cite, noting that the U.S. Department of Fish and Wildlife might compel polluters to remediate Overland Ponds. Casey Davenhill is the watershed coordinator. His representative, Ryan Dunham praised the Shattuck activists and noted that the 1965 Platte River flood brought federal disaster relief. Joe Shoemaker, then chair of the state??™s Joint Budget Committee, created the Greenway Foundation as the fiscal agent for the U.S. Fishf & Wildlife money. Overland Ponds was created in 1986 as a showcase for five kinds of Colorado vegetation, migratory bird habitat and human recreation. UCD architecture grad students Courtney and Deborah explained the first design phase, which would prioritize vegetation needs in four areas, circulation and social paths and other concerns. Ryan said the Department is now seeking public comment for a possible grant of $250,000 (or is it half that amount?).
President Sandy mentioned the planned widening of Evans Ave. from Broadway to Santa Fe and a victory garden at 2100 S. Acoma, behind EMW.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:40pm
