Overland Park Neighborhood Association
Minutes of 6/25/10 Meeting
Call to order at 7:30pm.
Reading of the minutes from last month's meeting was approved.
Treasurer Tracey Hardeman's report was approved ($1075.75 balance). President Sandy noted Athmar Park Neighborhood Association's fees. We agreed to raise our membership fees to $10 a year, and to lower our business membership fees to $25 a year, starting January, 2011.
Sandy mentioned that the Neighborhood Watch materials were about 3/4 completed and "now reside in a box somewhere." Liz Goucher has signed us up for USA Watch. OPNA will have a Facebook page. She plans a new flyer by early July.
Vice President Crawford said the Neighborhood Garage Sale was rained out. We decided to re-schedule at some future date. The Ice Cream Social will be held on July 22 at 6:30pm at Overland Pond Park, Florida and Santa Fe. It's our regular meeting day. Bring a lawn chair and bug spray.
Jennifer Redies, from Councilman Nevitt's office, noted that the police favor a speed trailer and signage rather than speed bumps. Citizens can be trained on use of the radar gun, possibly at a future meeting. City Council has approved the new zoning code. The mayor will sign in 6 months.
After a consideration of Jack Unruh's designs for the neighborhood logo, we agreed to delay a decision until September. Meanwhile, additional input, especially from artists, will be sought.
Neighbors mentioned the return of the Family from Hell on Galapagos (meth, prostitution). Redies suggested the District 4 Commander's meeting on June 30 at 10am at 2100 Clay.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:37pm.
