Text Messages Now Can Assist the Louisville Metro Police Department
The Louisville Metro Police Department has a new tool to fight crime. The department can now receive anonymous text messages that may assist in solving crimes.
How it works:
- Sent messages to CRIMES (274637)
- In the body of the text, type TIP563 and then type your text message to the police. TIP563 must precede the message so that the system knows to route it to Louisville and not one of the other cities that uses the system.
- Your message is anonymous. The program scrambles the phone number and then sends the message on to the police. Police may respond, but they don't know who you are.
