Over the years, East Meck has lost students to Providence High School, Butler High School and now the new Mint Hill High School. The most recent rezoning loss to the new Mint Hill HS will be devastating for East Meck. Please consider giving a voice to help make positive changes at East Meck. WE WANT THE SCHOOL BOARD TO VOTE FOR REZONING STUDENTS FROM MYERS PARK TO EAST MECK. This vote could potentially happen in October.

Beginning with the 2010-11 school year, East Meck will lose 700 students to the new Mint Hill reassignment plan. What does that mean? That is 1/3 of our current population, meaning 1/3 less programs, teachers, AP classes, resources, coaches, gateway classes. Our sports will drop from 4A to 3A, extracurricular programs will be cut. Not a pretty picture but a reality. In August, the school board voted to evaluate rezoning some of the Myers Park High students to East Meck. School board members are now wavering because of emails and calls from parents in neighborhoods that could be affected.
Please consider doing the following things.
1)Respond to linda.peak@peoplewaresearch.com to be added to the Rezoning updates distribution list. I attached her email for your information and important contacts.
2)email the school board members below
3)call the school board members at the numbers below
4)Pass this along to every friend/neighbor you can. One option is to supply your elderly neighbors with a letter to mail and/or provide the phone numbers so they can call. (This email can be printed very easily to be used by them)
