While I appreciate all of the work that has gone into deciphering the mystery of the mountain, I still don't quite see the problem as long as it doesn't catch on fire again.
Ron, I walk Julliard and Sugar Cane frequently, and things look pretty grim from that perspective. If you lived there and needed to put your house on the market in the next few years, you would probably take a big hit financially. There's some indication that is happening already. Come winter, with the leaves down, I think many of us on the Crown Hill Drive side of the creek are in for a big surprise.
The best scenario for us is if the operator (A) keeps to the required 3:1 limit, (B) actually stops when the mandated height is reached, and (C) grasses over the site when they close it. Bur there's some indication A is being violated, and maybe even B. I think the Board is just trying to minimize the impact.
Having said that, you are abolutely correct that the stalled house IS a serious concern, perhaps more so for us on Crown Hill Drive than on the other side of the creek, but a problem for all. I think it is on par with the landfill. Hopefully the board will be able to walk and chew gum at the same time.
