Pickerington = Mystery Community? ?… Yes it is!!.

It?’s a mystery why City residents don?’t know what is going on, when a complete idiot could look at the latest P.A.T.A. newsletter and easily find out that residential developers have controlled the city?’s long range planning by controlling city council and residential developers will continue to control Pickerington?’s destiny until it?’s citizens act.

It?’s a mystery why no one wants to run for city council. It?’s a mystery why everybody wants to complain and never do anything about it! It?’s a mystery why Pickerington residents are never in attendance at the city council meetings, but will sign anything (petitions) and everything and complain like hell to the signature gatherer?’s about how bad things are getting. It?’s a mystery (and a shame) how Violet Township residents have more of a handle on city business than actual city residents.

It?’s a mystery why Joyce Bushman and city council can pass emergency legislation over and over again, claiming that they are doing so for the immediate health and welfare of it?’s citizens and not one city resident speaks up! Do city residents think that there is an actual life and death emergency, one that begs the urgency of city hall to act immediately for their welfare, to build more homes? (Sorry for the long sentences city residents, I know you?’re not all that smart and have trouble following things)

It?’s a mystery why some Melrose residents will write letters and go to meetings so they can get little Johnny or little Jenny bused to a school less than a mile away, yet say nothing about how much they are paying in taxes or why there?’s so many traffic jams in the morning or why they are seeing so many heavy trucks running up and down SR 256.

It?’s a mystery why Pickerington schools have not yet begun to deteriorate considering the school board is in disharmony and the superintendent?’s lack of respect for his teachers!

Pickerington isn?’t a mystery at all its as simple as one word ?– CONTROL.

This community is about one thing only ?– CONTROL. The information that is readily available is controlled. Those in the business of providing you this information are limited in doing their jobs by the ones in control. In so doing, we are left with individuals that attempt to speak out, ask questions, and probe for the truth. As they strive to do this they are shot down in their efforts by the ones in control.

I disagree with your assertion that incorporated residents don?’t attempt to fight back. I have been to enough meetings to see their efforts with my own eyes and hear them with my own ears. It was amazing to watch the Mayor and members of the Zoning Board gavel their own citizens out of order for trying to ask a question, make a point, or request a straight answer. Of course this didn?’t make the media - as no reporters were there to cover the issues. Their frustration is that they fail in their attempts because they don?’t band together in their efforts. We, as a community, seem to only fight the fights that we see as a threat in our own backyard. The real question is whether we have the intellect to see that an issue at one end of our community is a threat to the whole community.

Early on (living here) I didn?’t understand this ?– I do now. I was passive toward issues that I should have been more involved with ?– it wasn?’t my problem after all it was going on over there. I watched as one or two folks fought hard for something that I really didn?’t understand. They lost and in the end so did this whole community and I.

What PATA is about is a group of ever growing individuals that have realized that we are greater in numbers than those that attempt to control this community?’s destiny. We live here (whether incorporated or unincorporated) and one way or another decisions made by our governing bodies impact all of us. Gone are the days of one or two brave soles fighting alone. Little will ever be accomplished in that manner. The Newsletter you are now reading is a compilation of public recorders that was never put together in this manner before. It should have been, but wasn?’t. By CONTROL. Attempts to thwart the release of this latest issue were made by those in control. If not for PATA?’s ever increasing support you would not be able to read what is very vital information in seeing the past errors and direction our community is headed. The question for you readers of this discussion posting is ?– Do you like our current direction? The maps and word are in front of you ?– what do you have to say?

I get frequent questions about why many of our posters on this web site don?’t list their names. These questions come from officials within the County and State Offices. It is unclear to these folks, as to the level of control that exists here. Having read a good deal of public records this situation has been going on in this area for some time. Personally, I choose not to be afraid. By that I take some of their control away from them. This is a history lesson (or possible a spirit) instilled in where I grew up ?– you see I?’m originally from the same area where the American Revolution began and people like Samuel and John Adams had a lot more to be fearful of then I will ever know. We all have rights ?– thanks to these and later patriots. You may choose to exercise your rights through anonymity or otherwise ?– it doesn?’t matter to me. My point is that if you don?’t exercise your rights you lose them to those in CONTROL.

There are a few new faces in this election. There are choices and being a Yankee fighter, I?’ve even seen write-in candidates win elections when they got the spirit and support of others to change the status quo.

Add the numbers up of those in office ?– making the decisions (for you) and you?’ll see that very few individuals are controlling our destiny. They have agendas, they have been following those agendas and the track we?’re on does not look promising on many fronts. The future is in the hands of the citizens. Choices made today will effect all of us tomorrow.
