More Hill Road Construction

Posted in: PATA
The other day I saw more of the latest ever-present addition to life in Pickerington: large numbers of large construction vehicles converging on a site. This site was on Hill Road, behind Tarranto?’s Pizza. So I thought to myself, ?“Soap, whatever could that be? Too small for another R-4 tract house subdivision. Too small for apartments. I KNOW it isn?’t tangible commercial development, because we just can?’t seem to get that right. What could it be??” So I ask around and find out that it is another church. I?’ll repeat that ?– ANOTHER CHURCH! Now don?’t get me wrong, I am a God fearing, occasional church attending individual and have nothing against churches. I do have a problem with this one?’s location.

You know what is right across the street from this new church, right? That?’s right, Seton Parish. Have you ever accidentally gone by there on a Saturday evening or Sunday morning? If you have, then you know what it is like to have traffic stopped from Seton Parish through the traffic light at Diley Road. Now the people we trust to make sound decisions in the planning portion of our City government have decided to add a whole other congregation to the mix. Sundays ought to be a real hoot now. Factor in the possibility of an event just getting over at the PYAA complex and you are going to see a whole new level of gridlock. We?’ll be lucky if we don?’t see a whole new chapter to road rage if it takes someone an hour to get from Seton to Summerfield. What about if a fire truck or ambulance is trying to get through?

Come on City Planners! What were you thinking? You didn?’t even arrange for all the driveways for the churches and athletic complex to somehow converge in the same area to take advantage of a traffic light. Those of you frequent readers know I?’m not advocating more traffic lights, especially in light of the fact that Mr. MacCauliffe?’s friends up the road at DRUG WORLD are getting a new light, too, and Mr. Berry is able to snap his fingers and make one appear wherever he chooses, but come on, you?’re placing people in harm?’s way for what reason? Just tell us. Take me and one other frequent poster to this forum out of the equation and you?’re dealing with pretty sensible and smart people around here. Just tell us why you are intentionally compounding an already perilous traffic situation.

Just try to once gain public support BEFORE you do something stupid.

Timing of Your Comments

Soap Box,

I wish you would sign your postings.

It appears to an 'outsider' that you and a couple other PATA members are a group of two or more individuals whose sole purpose is to specifically influence the November 6th elections. The timing of your comments and others here are very clear.

Again, sign your postings. We are in America!
HUH?!?!?

OK Mark, you have me completely confused. I specifically started a string based on my observations along a route I often travel. I specifically intended for this posting to NOT be a discussion about elections or candidates. I can?’t for the life of me understand how my venting my frustration about additional traffic on Hill Road could be construed as attempting to influence elections. For heaven?’s sake, I am just a lone voice howling at the moon here. I haven?’t the power or desire to influence elections. For that matter, I don?’t have the brains to conceive how to do such a thing. I made my views clear on my choices for candidates and am willing to let it go there. I decided to not post anymore on that subject expressly with the hope that if I changed the subject, you wouldn?’t bother with me. You apparently have an agenda and I do not wish to be a part of it. You took things too far.

Mark, I do not intend to discuss elections in this forum anymore. So please stop harassing me and making wildly false, slanderous and possibly libelous accusations about me. Now do you understand why I post anonymously? I couldn?’t imagine the torment you would cause me, my family, our reputation and piece of mind if you started coming to my house, calling me or emailing me. If you knew who I was, I would fear what you might do because you are so relentless.

Anytime is a good time

Mark:

It's impossible to time discussion articles to influence the upcoming election. The Pickerington City officials make poor decisions each week that further jeopardize our schools, roads, city well-being, etc. Putting a new church across from Seton Parish will indeed cause further traffic jams are certain times. Of course, the city paid money to a firm to run a traffic study (for 2 hours on one day in January) that confirmed for them that the speed limit in this area did not need to be reduced from 50 mph. Obviously, these wise men never drive this tract anytime PYAA/PYSA activities are in force, or during church service times. So, if not another traffic light (yes, Pickerington will soon be know as the city of lights, and I don't mean Xmas lights), they'll be a police officer posted there to maintain the traffic flow. All this wonderful commercial development (like we need a Drug Mart along with Drug Emporium, CVS, Big Bear and Krogers) with no regard for the effect on the roads and traffic problems.
