  • Respect-O-Meter: Respected Neighbor
In previous campaign literature from Gary Weltlich, he lists the following innovative solutions:
1) Responsible Growth
''I will work to control the impact of residential development by strictly adhering to low zoning densities. I take pride in our community and our schools. I believe that zoning codes must be used to preserve and protect our quality of life. Rezoning is a privilege. When it occurs it should not adversely affect the quality of living for current residents. Zoning changes that result in an increased density of homes on land being developed must have strong citizen support and a clear-cut benefit to the welfare of our community. High-density developments that enrich the few-at the expense of many, will be opposed.''
''I will seek to form a joint zoning board to hear all re-zoning applications where contiguous city/township boundaries are in question. Development of a joint standard for zoning through a unified land use plan, zoning code, etc. will decrease the leverage that developers have obtained by pitting entities against each other.''
2) Economic Development
''I will work to reduce residential tax burdens through aggressive pursuit of commercial development. Commercial economic development benefits the entire community. I have the knowledge and experience to know that success in attracting commercial development requires us to be competitive. We must be prepared to sell the Township and the City as one community. City and township officials must undertake a joint venture to attract commercial development. Our community will primarily develop as a bedroom community. Because of this, each opportunity to develop commercial infrastructure is so important. Our mutual success in this area is critical.''
3) Responsive Leadership
''As a community leader I will work to build a bridge of cooperation among local officials. The challenges we face are shared issues that are not limited by city and township boundaries. Through communication and collaboration we can reduce duplication of services, promote the welfare of our school system and our entire community.''
''As Township Trustee I will solicit your opinions and incorporate your ideas to address our community's challenges. Leadership requires the willingness and courage to challenge the system when the system is not working for the good of the entire community. I will encourage the development of a new strategic plan to set a vision for the future that encompasses our whole community.''

DID HE/IS HE WORKINGTO BUILD A BRIDGE OF COOPERATION AMONG LOCAL OFFICIALS? NO!! THINGS ARE WORSE NOW THAN EVER BEFORE!

IS HE WORKING TO ADD ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AGGRESSIVELY THAT WILL BENEFIT THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY? NO!! HE IS INDEED WORKING WITH ANOTHER MUNINCIPALITY AT OUR EXPENSE AS VIOLET TOWNSHIP RESIDENTS. ALL RIGHT THEN, SO DID TERRY. YOU GOT ME THERE! MY DISAGREEMENT ON THIS ISSUE DOES NOT COME AS A SURPRISE I AM SURE.

AS FAR AS RESPONSIBLE ZONING, HOW ABOUT WORKING ON THAT JOINT ZONING? OH, THAT?’S RIGHT, YOU HAVE BEEN BURNING YOUR BRIDGE.

HOW ABOUT LOOKING TO BUILD THE BRIDGE AGAIN? CAN HE DO IT? WILL HE? PLEASE?
STOP YELLING!

So far in your tirades, at least you have been civil. You don't need to do the all caps thing. No more people will listen than did before.

Is the bottom line of your message that things, as they are, aren't good and we should look for a wholesale change in the offices up for election?

Well good, it's about time you saw the light!
