Democracy takes a sigh tonight!!

Posted in: PATA
I just flew in from the City Council Rules Committee meeting and boy is democracy tired. How else would you explain the fact that Brian Fox and Doug Parker chose Craig Maxey for the new City Council? Weren't they listening at the polls. These guys just get it. We don't want Maxey. We want change. Gads, are you guys thick.
yawn

Are you sure the sigh wasn't a yawn?

It must get tiring to go through the motions. Accept applications, conduct interviews, remember what was decided a few months ago etc....

I did not attend, but I knew something was afoot when I could not stop yawning.

Where is the OUTRAGE??

That's all this farce gets? A little wink-wink and a laugh? What is wrong with you people? This situation was first surfaced less than 2 weeks after the election. It was brought out then that Washington?’s character would be written out of the script to set the stage for the return of the Maxey character. Then weeks before the ?“dramatic announcement?” the local rags ran the story. The Washington character jumbled his lines slightly when the script called for him to pass the plot off as rumor. (you got to have something for the bloopers show!) Again each actor read his script and the rags were satisfied. No investigative reporting here folks, just what they are told to print.

Then came the big night for the January sweeps. All of the lines in the script were carefully crafted. The scripts were rehearsed over and over. Then they were read and a prepared statement of shock and disbelief was delivered by the mayor character. Not a dry eye in the house. Then the Yartin character flubs her line in a way that will make that clip part of the blooper hall of fame. She actually refers to the Shaver character as Maxey. The Shaver character saves the day with a quick retort, but the damage is done. The Yartin character has told us how the movie ends before we see it. No best supporting actress in a comedy series nomination for her.

The next episode calls for interviews for the vacant council seat. 14 daring souls enter the fray and vie for the coveted role of council person. (don?’t you love that? Council-PERSON) Interviews are conducted, more scripts are read. Within the space of 72 hours all interviews are completed and the field is narrowed to just one single actor qualified for the role. The rules committee is exhausted by their intense efforts over the last couple of days. 14 highly talented and committed souls have to be ruled out, one by one. Only the best can fill the seat made vacant by the demise of the Washington character.

Well, you know the rest of the story as told by the two other blas?© postings here on that subject. Where is your outrage? Where is your public admonition of council? The council has totally rejected the message sent by the Voters in November. The Voters ELECTED to make a change in city government. The Voters ELECTED to NOT return the Maxey character to his seat despite the thousands and thousands of dollars that were spent to keep him there. The city government last night elected to tell the Voters to shove that ELECTION right up their collective *****! They are running the show here, not the Voters and it?’s time the Voters got the message. They slapped us in the face. No, I take that back. They spit in our face and when we went to wipe it off they sucker punched us in the gut as hard as they could. You ever been hit real hard in the gut when you weren?’t expecting it? Well then you know how I feel right now.

If the Voters of this fictional little midwest town don?’t speak up and DEMAND that the council reconsider and appoint one of the other applicants, then to he** with all of you. You prove yourself to be nothing but a bunch of gutless whiners. Look at the press New Rome is getting. Get some of your own. Contact the State Ethics Commission. Contact other entities in the State and County. It?’s gone beyond what you can handle. Get some professional help. Or continue to just roll over and read from your script.

Nothing has sickened me this much since the world was totally consumed by who shot JR.

Now that's the fire we need !!

Honestly, when I came home I was too tired to be literary. I decided to throw this out there to see if indeed there was outrage. Thank you P'Od. You stated this exactly as I would have had I not been so tired. I wanted to get this out there so everyone knew. Yes the group of some 15 concerned citizens were there, outraged but yet laughing mockingly. All looked so dumbfounded with inaction that I was temporarily discouraged. Guys this is going to take more than a discussion page or a few boney fingers of indignation. We must respond hard and fast. I am sure the evening included all of them cuddled around Darryl Berry's fireplace with Brandy in their hands congratulating themselves. The scene would also include Darryl doing his Leonardo Decaprio in Titanic imitation by jumping up on his fine cherry dining room table and yelling, ''I am king of the world!'' Then Lou would move through the room with his King Louis robe muttering to himself ''you have to spend money to make money.'' Yes Darryl's money to the Council. Brian would look in the mirror and say, ''now how am I going to be a congressman if the county and state party will not support me. That's ok Darryl will.'' Parker does not care. Darryl learned along time ago that all Parker needs is a few rounds of golf and an occassional, ''at a boy.'' Moneybrake who was there and popped in for the exactly two minutes that it took for Brian Fox to thoughtfully explain after long review (72 hours)they had chosen Maxey. Really Moneybrake you could have called that one in. I did find it curious that Ms. Yartin called the role with Mr. Washington as part of it. Of course he was not there and did not answer. Who runs the show here? We know the answer to that. You can see the puppet strings from Darryl on each of the councilmen there. Lou's string would have to be heavyweight. Pickerington has long suffered the kingdom building of Darryl Berry. Don't you find it curious that our esteemed Mayor lives in a house on Church Street that is titled in Darryl's company name??? Hum??? Don't you find it interesting that the council voted on an entrance to some offices off of Hill Road near Graters after the construction for it had already begun? Don't you find it interesting that the city built a road to no where near Darryl's condos for the bypass without clearing the way for the property to follow. Hey Darryl next time check to see if you can actually go through before you spend our money. This road would be great for a City tricyle class. Votes for anyone who wants to see Maxey on a tricycle? My suggestion is that you get off your computer chairs, put down your coffee cup and come to the City Council meeting next Tuesday. Let's quit yapping about it and do something. Now that the council has successfully gotten the local newspaper to fire John Spanelli for writing the truth about Pickterington politics and gotten another puppet Mark Claffey to write their spin, they think they have real power. Don't you guys realize that you have no power, Berry does. You are just the pawns on his chessboard called Pickerington.
