I see on this web page how one developer ?“demanded?” his annexation and zoning be passed as EMERGENCY. If that isn?’t proof enough of whom is running the ?“show?”, I now see in the papers how Council has brought forth the issue of another curb cut on Rt. 256. Another traffic slowing, life endangering traffic mess that?’s just up from an existing traffic light. So access to this site is already in place with traffic safety control measures, but that wasn?’t good enough.

The kicker is that this developer has already laid the asphalt and indicated the cut area in construction paint even before getting approval. Just drive by and see for yourself.

Now I?’m convinced that Council has no controls, no enforcement, and no plans to insure community members?’ safety or wishes.

Just who is the brazen developer this time that does the work first and then gets a Council member to push his desires forward in a Council vote?

More relocation of existing business in the name of PROGRESS and our vaunted burgeoning (or is that burdening) economic development.

Relocation

I am curious...

Are there incentives involved (abatements, diversions, etc.) when a business relocates from one Pickerington address to another? I grew up in Pickerington and remember the economic landscape fairly well.

Off the top of my head, I remember:

Huntington Bank (moved twice)

Fairfield Federal (once)

Kroger (once)

CVS (at one time I think there were 3 open within a mile of each other)Now one sits vacant. The other is a card shop? (former SuperX)

Dairy Queen (once)

I am sure there are more that I did not mention. Feel free to add to the list.
