Annexation was barred, but city says notice not served before deadline

Council accused of contempt

When Pickerington City Council accepted the annexation of 316 acres of land along Busey and Amanda Northern roads during its Sept. 17 meeting, the ordinance went through unanimously and without a hitch.
It turns out, however, that there was just one little problem: On Sept. 13, the Fairfield County Court of Common Pleas had issued an order prohibiting council from doing any of it.
Now, in a Sept. 23 filing, the Violet Township Board of Trustees and the village of Canal Winchester are asking the court to hold council in contempt and set aside the annexation.
