Take Action: Get That TV Out of Your Kid's Bedroom

What if you could make one change this fall that would improve your child's academic performance and overall health? You'd do it in a heartbeat, right? Well, studies prove that if you move the TV out of your kids' bedrooms, their lives will improve. Check out these facts and studies:

-60% of kids ages 8-16 have a TV in their bedrooms.
-For every hour of TV preschoolers watch, their risk of obesity jumps 6%.
-TV in the bedroom? The risk increases to 31% for every hour watched.
-Kids who watch 10+ hours a week have lower reading scores and perform less well academically.
-The more TV watched by toddlers aged 1-3, the greater their risk of attention problems by 7. For every hour watched per day, the risk of developing ADHD increased nearly 10%. (From Common Sense Media- July 2004 edition)
