Our Park...

Posted in: Hunters Chase

well, my wife informed me today that when she went to our beloved little park, it was so vandalized, it wasnt even funny. the benches were turned over and there was grafitti all over the place, cant something be done??? i know its those stupid teenagers who walk around in the middle of the night, when their parents ignorantly believe they are at a "friends" house...but thats another topic. cant our HOA hire a security guard to drive around the subdivision and keep an eye on our park and common areas? we shouldnt put up with this, we spend a lot of money each year to contribute to the renovation of such things as our park and pool, we shouldnt have to see these things, especially where our kids play! please call our HOA and voice your concerns about this. this is becoming a bigger and bigger problem in our NW side and since we moved here last july 07, we have seen more and more vandalism, not only in our subdividivision but in our neighbors as well. hope we can all do something to make our community a safer place. Nat'l night out is happening soon, and at the same park thats been vandalized, we should have a discussion about this then. thanks for reading, and please feel free to add your comments.

No kidding, isn't there a curfew in place to keep these kids with nothing better to do off the streets since their parents can't. Maybe the HOA should start offering parenting classes.

There are a mulitiude of problems associated with your problem. One is that HOAs are not what they used to be when they were first devised. The original intention of HOAs was to protect the property values of homeowners through the enforcement of covenants and deed restrictions. Over time however, HOAs have basically become nothing more than cash cows for the HOA management companies, who do as little as possible so they can protect their profits taken off of the backs of unsuspecting homeowners.

Take a drive around your area and I'm sure you'll see unattended lawns, junk cars, fences that need repairs, houses that need exterior painting and the major problem that is a plague for HOAs, rental properties occupied by irresponsible people.

I would suspect that your park vandalism problems stems from children of transients who rent homes there and who haven't got a clue about parental responsibilities. They also could care less about your HOA, rules, etc.

Until your HOA board has the guts to tackle the rental property problem as well as telling your HOA management company to get do their job, then I'm afraid you'll soon have even greater problems with crime in your neighborhood.

Good luck!

A telling sign about your HOA is that no one from your HOA board has responded here to your concerns. Perhaps there lies the problems your facing.

Suggestion: Hire a lawyer, review the HOA meeting minutes and financial reports and ask for accountability from your HOA board and management company or your community will become like many, i.e., crime ridden, gangs, and property values will tank. Guaranteed.
