I've been noticing a lot of trash (or items to be picked up by the bulk truck) (some of it shows up on Thursday the day after trash is picked up and sits on the curb until the next Wednesday).   I thought the rule was not to put it out on the curb until after 6:00 a.m. the day it is to be picked up.

This practice really makes the neighborhood look, well for lack of a better word--trashy.  Is there anything that can be done?

Thank you for noticing and bringing up the subject. I personally do not have a problem with homes putting out the tree branches on Sunday  that they pruned on the weekend however, you are right.Trash should not be put out until the night before pick up.It distresses me to see the day after our pick up day, cartons,  carpeting, garbage bags, and misc out for a week. You can do a couple of things 1.call solid waste . Even If you see alot of construction type materials they will try to help - they are the greatest folks -972 205 3500. They cannot pick up certain items like concrete , chemicals. You can also call code  compliance at 972 485 6400.They can investigate. I just drove the area yesterday as part of Citizens on Patrol , a program of the GPD, and noticed more rental properties and homes for sale. In these cases, it appears that the owner may be changing out tenants and the owner is responsible for the mess.I suspect they know the rules but just have the workmen put it on the curb.Code can look into the situation.I always leave my name and phone number and follow up on the results to know that it was handled. Our nest meeting is Tuesday May 20 at 6:45 PM at the N Galand Library .Ihope you can come and we will also address the subject .One way of putting it is," is that the view you want from your own window"?Using that common sense rule may help us .

Thanks for the info.  I too call code compliance when I see violations.  The tree limbs, I understand.  You're right, code compliance is very helpful.  I am hoping that people in the neighborhood will be become more conscientious regarding the look of the neighborhood.  The problem is, the residents in violation are not the ones attending the neighborhood meetings.  I wish there was a way in which the whole neighborhood could be reminded to try and keep the streets, porches, front yards free of items that either are trash or belong behind a backyard fence (for instance, swing sets in front yards just look tacky), not to mention flatbed trailers parked in fronts of houses unhooked from vehicles.  I even noticed a washer and dryer stored on the front porch of one house (code compliance has been notified of this).

I have enjoyed our neighborhood for over 30 years.  It is very frustrating and heartbreaking to see the way some people are treating it.  I only wish more people had common sense.

Again, thank you.You are right that those who need to know the regulations are not attending meetings.I am open to any ideas as to how to spread the word about keeping our blocks attractive. It is frustrating .I have reported flat beds trailers recently also .Washer /dryer blows my mind!I have lived here 23 years and decided not to move .We believe in neighborhood preservation - not pillars in front of the house.Maybe we could get a group together to do a block walk to meet folks and talk to them.I really noticed the decline in some housing as to general maintenance. We could get flyers from code . Not that we are all not busy enough and would expect adults to know better .
