Wanted to provide each of the neighborhoods an update on our activities since Saturday's and Sunday's meetings. Our maintenance staff will be installing ground anchors for the soccer goals tomorrow and the actual goals themselves by this Friday. As stated to both groups we will replace the previous concrete anchored goals with movable ones similar to what is used elsewhere in Tempe parks. We will deploy additional trash cans for the field area and will monitor to make sure they are being used and used for their intended purpose.
We will also work with the Police Department and monitor calls for service to the park and/or adjacent residences if the call is park related. Our P&R staff will monitor use of the field both evening and weekend to develop a better understanding on the frequency, duration and associated impacts. I would also encourage residents to accept Commander Johnson's advice and contact PD should they see any behavior in the park that is either illegal or a concern. This is the best way to both have a record and allow those most capable to deal with usage issues within the park.
If there are concerns with any park use after we have replaced the goals, please feel free to contact Sam or me and we will try and address the issue as promptly as possible.
Thanks again for all you assistance in facilitating the meetings with the neighborhoods and for the collective feedback provided regarding the use of the soccer field.
