We have an option of a straight cut through the median of General de Gaulle directly opposite Park Timbers Drive or a U-turn across from Park Timbers Drive that would permit vehicles to make a U-turn after departing Park Timbers Drive and head back toward the CCC bridge. This will be covered by toll funds and federal funds. Please give us your thoughts on the straight cut version versus the u-turn version.

U-turn
Glenn:
My initial reaction is to prefer the U-turn version. It seems to me it would be much easier for Park Timber residents to turn right onto DeGaulle and then make a U-turn rather than waiting for traffic to clear sufficiently to exit straight across DeGaulle and then make a left turn onto DeGaulle.
Does our security officer have an opinion as to which option is safer?

U-Turn vs. Cut Through
Mal,
You present a good point regarding the ease of a right turn versus trying to cut completely across two lanes of traffic. Actually, our security officer/policeman has not said anything about the proposal, but the vast majority of the respondents to my notice of the option have been in favor of the U-turn.
Thanks for your feedback.

U-Turn
Dear Mr. Orgeron,
My husband, Michael, and I vote for the U-Turn. We also request that the U-Turn have a merge in lane from General DeGaulle into the U-Turn and a merge in lane on the other side to General DeGaulle. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us. Susan
