Greetings Neighbors!
I have a number of things to tell you about this evening:
First, I would like to remind everyone that many of us have agreed to welcome and encourage trick-or-treaters in our neighborhood by sitting outside (possibly at the end of the driveway) from 6-7:30 on Sunday evening. This is intended to encourage neighborhood kids to get out and go trick-or-treating this year and overcome the big tall fences and gates which many of our homes have.
Also, Parkridge West Neighborhood Association is very pleased to announce that Mayor Julia Pirnack will be attending our next meeting, on Wednesday, November 10th at 7:00 pm at the Youth Center on Lashley. The Mayor has some things she wishes to share with us, and also wants to hear our questions and concerns for our neighborhood. Please join us in welcoming Mayor Pirnack in style! Refreshments will be served at the meeting.
We have a new cop on our beat: Officer Dillon Cromley. Officer Cromley can be reached at 303-774-4300 x3164.
Our neighbor Leah Granby has agreed to act as translator, so that flyers and other information can be bi-lingual, in order to more fully include all of our neighbors and reflect the cultural diversity of our community. Unfortunately I don't have her email address yet, so I wasn't able to get this translated. ;-)
Finally, some distressing news: there has been another break-in. It occurred at 36 Placer Drive today, some time between 8:00 am and noon. This was the second time this home has been hit (the first time was in July.) Apparently they broke in through a locked back door. No one was home at the time, and few details are available. Lonnie tells me she spoke to a police sergeant who was at the scene about the apparent pattern of break-ins in our neighborhood, and he said that they were looking into it. As always, please remember these few simple guidelines with regard to home security:
1. Lock your doors and windows;
2. Leave the porch light on, and consider adding additional outdoor lighting;
3. If you go out of town, have your mail stopped and ask someone to check on your home and pick up any flyers or packages;
4. Never attempt to approach or stop an intruder. Nothing you own is worth more than your life!
5. Be alert. Report suspicious activity to the police at their non-emergency number: 303-651-8501
Dial 9-1-1 to stop a crime in progress, save a life, or report a fire.
Everyone have a happy and safe Halloween, and I'll see you at the meeting!
