Attention Neighbors:
There have been several burglaries and car break-ins in our neighborhood in the past month. No one has been injured, but valuables have been taken.
Please be alert to any unusual activity or suspicious persons in your area and report them to police immediately. As always, it is a good idea to lock doors and windows at night and make sure your outside lights are on. This acts as a deterrent and the more of us who do it, the better. Consider placing additional security lighting in dark areas, possibly on a motion detector switch.
Also, whenever you go out of town it is wise to have your mail held at the post office or picked up by a friend or neighbor. Piled up mail and newspapers can tip off thieves that no one is home. Tell a neighbor you know and trust that you will be out of town and ask them to keep an eye on your place. If they know you're away and not expecting anyone (like a house-sitter,) then they will know immediately that anybody on your property is up to no good.
Finally, remember that it is unwise to attempt to confront an intruder. Nothing you own is worth more than your life.
Dial 9-1-1 to report a **crime in progress**. Otherwise, call 303-651-8501 to report suspicious activity.
