Lake Management

Posted in: Twelve Oaks of Ascension
What is going on in the lake management area. The lake weed is taking over the banks. This is causing a huge surge in snakes. The past 2 months I've killed 5 snakes close to my home. This is 5 x more then in previous years. The dues are paid and my neighbors and others would like to see some action.

Dear Lake Owner,

I am also a lake owner and like you I am equally concerned about our lake. However, we do not currently have a hericide to kill the grass that you see growing on the surface of the water. I have found that it is easily raked, if you want to control it in your backyard.

Perhaps the HOA can hire a professional that is licensed to apply the chemicals needed to kill the grass. Although, you would have to also consider run-off, if it will kill the fish, etc.. (Many herbicides and chemicals of that nature can not be used because they can get into a public water way).

If you have the time, maybe you could research what chemicals would be effective, how much they cost, or if there are other means to control the growth of the vegetation.

The HOA is always looking for volunteers to help with projects and/or just donate time.

Thank you for your concern.
