"Volunteers Needed" has been a call listed in Parkwood newsletters for many years, many years. In the recently mailed Oct/Nov 2008 newsletter to property owners and residents in Parkwood, the Board of Directors (BOD) makes again their call for volunteers, for a variety of committee activities. My observations are that these solicitations have been announced time and time again. At the 2007 annual meeting there were several residents/owners who signed up for committee activities. Wonder why the BOD has not made committee appointments yet. At the 2008 annual meeting there were residents/owners who signed up for committee activities. Wonder why the BOD has not made committee appointments yet.
Wonder why those who signed up inviting themselves to become active committee members for Parkwood activities have not been supported by the BOD through appointment and their plans discussed and supported through the budget? Wonder why there are NO recreational activities in Parkwood, essentially speaking, beyond the pool and tennis courts, even though we have built a $300K "clubhouse" and pay another $330K annually to the HOA? Wonder why the BOD has done NOTHING in this area for years and years?
Could it be the way the BOD operates?
Could it be the way the BOD does not operate?
Who is it in Parkwood that supports perpetuating "our" $300K "clubhouse" use policies that only so few of the 1250 households in Parkwood likely can rent or afford to rent?
Who is it in Parkwood that believes with an annual budget of $330K that there can be no social/recreational activities and use by the entire HOA membership of the "clubhouse" for activities the residents/owners wish to partake, besides just what the three members on the BOD want?
Why haven't those residents/owners who signed up at the 2007 and 2008 annual meetings been activated and financially supported by now by this BOD?
Who is holding back whom?
Why have those who have sought to be appointed onto these committees been ignored?
For those who have sought to support the safety committee, why do not others step up? Why when some seek appointment to the newsletter committee are they interests and efforts rejected? What civic service? What social committee - being sociable about what? What recreation committee - at the pool which is now closed? At the covered pavilion area which we have to pay to rent? At the two tennis courts? At the run down, unsafe playground area? At the "clubhouse" (WHO is in the "club" here, besides the three members of the BOD whose "policies" forbade us 1250 households from even having it opened up for weeknight or weekend meetings - and without cost, say it ain't so, Joe, we already paid $300K for it!?)????
The BOD has created the "volunteer" "logjam" in Parkwood. Not just the three members of the current Board, but just go back year before year before year since the early 1990s.....
Seen any "recreation budget" in the budget?
Seen any "social activities" in the budget?
Seen any Parkwood authors or their articles in the newsletters?
Ever seen any minutes of what the architectural "Control" committee has ever done or been doing? (I haven't, and I have only been "watching" for this information for the last 10 years.)
Perhaps I have only touched on this subject. Perhaps other residents/owners in Parkwood might has some clearer ideas about why the repeated calls for volunteers, and then when some of us step us, are being ignored? Perhaps the BOD could explain itself, and the motivations of this track record. Perhaps when the BOD holds its next BOD meeting on Oct 21 at the "clubhouse" at which time the residents/owners of the 1250 households might be able to speak to one of the members of the BOD, but note we are not allowed to actually attend the BOD meeting itself - maybe the BOD can explain why there is the constant call for "volunteers" and why none or so few seem to be "answering the call" ---- Any "questions" you think we should be "asking" the BOD? Any "answers" you think we should be "telling" this BOD?
