Truth About Cats and Dogs

Posted in: Parkwood Ranch
I read a previous post concerning cats and leash law, unfortunately Mesa does not have a leash law for cats. However you may get a cat trap from Mesa Police Humane Department for a small deposit which will be returned when you bring the trap back. If you are successful in catching the cat Mesa PD Humane Officer will come and take the cat away. There is however a leash law for dogs in the City of Mesa. I for one don't appreciate one of my neighbors on Crescent who takes his dog for an evening walk (without a leash) and allows it to use my front lawn as his toilet. Mesa PD Humane will also respond for dogs running loose, barking dogs and other animal problems.

Is the Mesa PD Humane Officer different from Animal Control? I called animal control about a cat and was told that they would only take them if I drove it over there. As a small dog owner I am also concerned about the dogs without leashes who sometimes are quite large and seem to be quite interested in my dog. I'm not sure what we can do about it because by the time anyone comes to write a ticket the situation is over. Maybe it's possible to get a regular drive through of the neighborhood by someone like the humane officers. I know we could schedule that in some of the other cities I've lived in.
