The work of District Five is powered by volunteers who are residents or stakeholders in our community. Through the Community Planning and Economic Development (CPED) Committee and Neighborhood Action Committee (NAC) community members advance interests and agendas for crime prevention, quality of life improvements, improving public service delivery and building neighborhood communication networks, and advance citizen input in community development and land use planning. A self determined, informed community is resilient and responsive to opportunities and change. An active and skilled citizenry will assure that our community thrives. Your District Council will be as effective and strong as its volunteers. At present, the Council has only one employee, the Executive Director/Organizer. We are grateful for the volunteer commitment of Brian Dean, Americorps VISTA volunteer who is serving District Five communities through August 2005.
