A resident elected board of 20 community volunteers governs the Payne Phalen District Five Planning Council. Members are selected at the Annual Meeting held each April. Board terms are staggered, with 10 members elected each year. The By-laws assure that each Board member serves at the monthly Board of Directors meeting, and participates actively on a Board Committee throughout their term. The board is responsible for setting policy, for fulfilling fiduciary duties and overseeing the finances of the organization, and for hiring, supervising and evaluating the Executive Director. Traditionally, District 5?‘s Board has been highly active and involved in local community affairs. While Board service is only one way to be involved and provide leadership to District Five ?– we are always seeking interested potential candidates. If you feel volunteer Board service may be something you can contribute, contact Micheal Danielson, (D5 Board President) or Leslie McMurray (Executive Director/Organizer) to discuss your leadership interests. Prior experience as a District Five volunteer is essential to effective Board service and governance.
