Activities in Nimes, France -- Day 9

Jul 23, 2006

The delegation will visit Nimes, France, which contains a number of remnants of the Roman rule of the region. Included in the sites to visit are the Roman amphitheatre, and the 2000-year-old Pont du Gard Roman aqueduct, which is believed to have been in operation for nearly 500 years. As a former textile center, Nimes also has the distinction of being the origin of the product denim, whose name is a shortened version of the description "de Nimes," or "from Nimes."

At the conclusion of the day, delegates will meet their home stay families, and spend the first evening with their home stay family.
