On Day 18, the delegation at last arrived in Rome, the "Eternal City". They were scheduled to visit the Roman Forum, Piazza Venezia, and the 50,000-seat Colosseum, built in 80 AD. A funny thing happened on the way to the forum....
On Tuesday, their last full day of the trip, the delegation will visit Vatican City. They will visit St. Peter's Cathedral and all its art, including Michelangelo's Pieta. And the Sistine Chapel with its amazing frescoes painted on the walls. In the afternoon, they will explore the city center in small groups, visiting such sites as the Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, the Spanish Steps, and the Trevi Fountain, where tossing a coin into the fountain is said to guarantee your eventual return to Rome!
