Folks have been hearing from their delegates about their adventures in Madrid. From what they've heard, the kids are exhausted from launching right into activities after a long night's journey, but things are going really well, and the kids are having a great time.
Here are some of the stories coming back...
The weather is "warm and sunny," or "hot and humid," depending on your tolerance! Everyone is fine and having fun. They were at a museum and then shopping in Madrid, which looks to them "like New York City," with everyone rushing around. Their delegation joined up with the delegation from Connecticut that they are supposed to travel with.
They saw some beautiful churches in the nearby town of Toledo.
Then they traveled on a rough road (with many pot holes!) to a large, beautiful farm where they raise bulls for Spanish bullfighting.
Later they had dinner in the basement of a huge house on the farm. Several of the delegates had "hamburgers" for dinner. Apparently during the dinner, they found out that not all the bulls make it to the ring -- and the ones that don't are, you guessed it, slaughtered for meat...guess what the hamburgers were made of? When they found out the burgers were made from bulls from the farm, many of the delegates lost their appetite! Nevertheless, they said it was great!!!
They also went to the soccer camp, and apparently there are a lot of kids on the team who are the same age as the delegates. It sounds like there was a game, but nobody is talking about the score....
Finally, after a very long day, they were in their rooms at 12:30 AM to get some much-needed sleep.
