Recently I was watching the city?’s channel 11 listening to a city official taking about the improvements to the Capital district downtown and the push to clean-up the surrounding area. My first thoughts were that this is a good thing..... then I began thinking, may be not. Last year there were several articles about the clean-up along Van Buren street and I remember reading of the of the transformation of the Circle K on the corner of First Ave. and Fillmore Street. All the prostitutes, drunks, transients, and drug peddlers were urged to move on. The question becomes, where are they moving on to when city officials clean-up these areas?

Over this past year, there does seem to be more transients in our neighborhood. Yes, possibly I?’m just paranoid but it seem like it to me. If Roosevelt neighborhood aggressively works at pushing out these elements and they now try to take up residency in the Willo, do we continue to show them the path to the East Osborn Neighborhood or Arizona Biltmore Estates.
