I understand that the 1st Avenue proposal will extend 1st avenue for less than one mile. In doing so, we will demolish dozens of historical homes. We have elected a board to speak on our behalf and preserve the historical value of our neighborhood. How can they say that tearing down beautiful homes is good for our area? At the last meeting, they claimed that their decision is the consensus of the neighborhood.

Let me start off by saying that I own the house at 25 W. Wilshire drive, and it is directly in the path of the 1st Ave alignment.
I find your comments very interesting for several reasons.
Many years ago when the historic area was first established my property was excluded and a bearer wall was erected just West of my property to prevent traffic from entering the historic area.
Over the years I have been unable to sell my house for the kind of prices the people in your area have enjoyed. On the two occasions I've put it on the market I was unable to sell it because of being excluded from your area.
As a result of not being in the historic area I have had to rent my house at a price below the fair market value and at the same time pay the high taxes your area has bestowed upon me.
Your comments are a bit unclear to me. I noticed that your statement never claims that I am in your area only that historic houses(not homes) would be demolished. I think the neighborhood the city is referring to is my area not yours and I agree with their comments.
If I am in error in any of my comments please correct me.
