eyesore

Posted in: Westown Watch
I was wondering about the island that is in the middle of the road at sweetwater and 29 dr. When it went up I was under the impression that it was temporary, but it doesnt appear to be. It is an eyesore for our neighborhood. If you have ever turned one way or another you know that it does more harm then good.
No eyesore to me

If I remember correctly, the island was put there to keep the traffic from the apartments and the business area from flooding the neighborhood. I really feel it was a very needed item. I don't know if you live on 29th or not, but if you ask me I think it has helped. Sure there are still idoits that find their way around the island and speed down the street, but all in all I think it has keep most of the traffic out.
About the eyesore

This is responding to both of the responses about the eyesore. I, too, reside on 29th Avenue and no matter how you look at it I agree with the person who originally wrote the story. Basically what is needed on 29th Avenue are ''Speed Humps'' like those on Larkspur, stretching across to 31st Avenue. The island is a total joke and I do not think it has slowed down the amount of traffic, but has encouraged the ''hot dogs'' to be more daring on how they can attempt the island. Eventually it (the island) will be someone's downfall. If a petition could be started to get the island removed I would be the first to sign it.
