Dear Charley,
I am compiling a complete list of our members and I am hoping for your assistance.
I plan on contacting the members of our neighborhood to invite them to get involved and ask for contact information. I'd like to find out the names / addresses of our members that are already involved to save some time.
While I realize that some of our active members have requested that their e-mail address remain confidential, I am wondering if their name and mailing address is confidential as well? I am also curious as to who does have access/control of this confidential list and what happens to it in the event of a new Chair (President elect)?
Since walking the neighborhood and writing down every address within it I realized how nice it would be to have a complete list of all the members of our association regardless of whether their e-mail is confidential.
I also realized something else when passing out ballots. Quite a few of the people that I spoke with indicated that you had just called them about the elections. You requested that they attend the meeting in order to vote. Several of them stated how happy they were, since they could vote without actually attending the meeting. They indicated that they would do just that. They would vote for you without ever meeting or speaking to any others that might be running against you for Chair.
It seems to me that having sole access to this list, and the phone numbers gives you a HUGH advantage in an election?
I think that this is another good topic for the discussion group on the website. I also think that this needs to be brought to the attention of the new By-laws Committee when revising the Election Procedures.
Please Respond
