Regarding activities in the Magnolia Heights Neighborhood in St Petersburg, FL:
Recently one of our neighbors hand-delivered a letter to about a third of the homes in Magnolia Heights. The purpose was to find others interested in developing a sense of community within our neighborhood by planning activities and events like porch parties, clothing swaps, home improvement help, alley cleanups, potlucks, block parties, group yard sales, etc..
The letter generated a very positive response. We haven't even delivered letters to the entire neighborhood and we've already gathered 25 names of people interested in being involved!
Over the next week we will be contacting the remainder of Magnolia Heights with hand delivered letters so we all will know about the growing desire for an active and vibrant community.
FYI: We have been in touch with the city and have scheduled a meeting with the Susan Ajoc, director of Community Services with the city. The meeting is tentatively scheduled for evening of Nov 20th. More details will be announced and placed on our calendar once they are finalized.
We have tried communicating with the current / former association president with no reply. (A Certified letter was received and signed for by the association president approximately a week ago, and as of today (11/13/13) there has been no response). The assumption is that the current/former associaion is defunct. If you haven any further information about this, please reply to this post.
We will be having meetings and planning activities. If you are interested, please contact us. We'd love to have your input.
