Blocking sidewalk playing cornhole

Posted in: Hamilton Highlands

Sorry Neigh, I was responding to Dale. I agreed with every post you put on here. I really wished we could of did something about the VFW. I just dont understand how they can put it there inbetween 2 subdivisions like that. A bar or establishment like that has to be so many feet from a school. Why not a subdivision with kids. I am sure legally they have the right to be there but it is upsetting. As for the cornhole players, Ill let them know about it if i see them out. I am sure they could care less. I am really sure the police have better things to do than to come out on a call about adults and kids playing cornhole on a sidewalk. I guess some people have nothing better to do but complain about things.

It is only rude if you have ask us to move and we refuse! Not one person has ever approached us like an adult and ask for the boards to be moved. Be an adult about it! As for the drinking if it is that big of a deal call the cops. Seems to me Dale88 that you are just mad you have not been invited.

Being a resident of this neighborhood for over 10 years, it is actually quite refreshing to see families and friends getting together and having a good time with each other and making memories for their children.  Really isn't that what we should be doing as parents?  Teaching children social skills, how to accept diversity and to be a positive role model?  If you look for the worst in things, no big surprise, but you are going to find them.  Actually folks being outside, with their families offers up to the passers by that we have an active community and that overall, things are being watched.  So while you are away having dinner with your families on certain occasions, there are folks having dinner with their families and friends at home- watching your property for you.  In addition, the teenagers that roar around the corners of the development, I have witnessed time and time again - actually slow down when there are folks outside playing.  And really there is no difference in folks playing in front of their homes vs. having a "block" party in a cul de sac.  I just find it dis-heartening that folks would drop to such a level of despair that something as simple as family time would become an issue within our housing development.

I agree with all the replys. All in all, we EACH pay taxes, our bussiness is ours. EXCEPT, if it harms, disrespects, or damages your neighbor's property..... I see none of these in family & friends playing. Sure beats having "property up keep" or, as the neighbor spoke of last nite, complaints of non driving vehicals in our way.
