He IS a COPS member. He is a valid COPS member. He feels he is doing the community a service by patroling the area and reporting ATVs. He just is not on the team that Melissa coordinates with RTHA. He works directly with Sgt. Choyce.

If you have a problem with this individual, please contact Sgt. Choyce. If you don't feel like you get a fair response from Sgt. Choyce, please call his supervisor, Captain Sudan at 392-4800.

RTHA has a neighborhood wide meeting scheduled for August. We have sent the crime update in a recent email to RTHA members. We will also include this informatoin in the newsletter that will go out to the entire neighborhood in July.

And yet on June 2 we read:

OK - I have watched this board and taken about all the comments against the HOA I can handle. I know that everyone will not always agree with what is said or done by any group. I also agree with you that everyone is entitled to their opinion. This board allows residents to express them freely.

The issue I have is when it is published that the HOA is doing something that it isn't. Our COPS coordinator regularly communicates with the police and our COPS volunteers patrol all of our neighborhood - usually at night - we just don't have enough volunteers to do so every night. We welcome new volunteers! By the way, I haven't yet heard of them patrolling the back section. As in most cases - the opinion and voice of one person is not the opinion and voice of the group.

This HOA has a membership of about 250 out of 1500 homes. It was established to help keep River Trails a great place to live. There are about 5 volunteers who consistently work to do the activities that we do sponsor. They all work full time in addition to helping us.  As well as planning RTHA events, we attend city and other meetings to know as much as we can and have an impact on issues that will affect our neighborhood.

When I post on this board, I try to give all the information I have available at that time. I have been pleased that some have taken the initiative to do further research on topics that interest them - this information can only help us all. This board is also a great way for us to know more about what is happening in the neighborhood. I personally watch for crime postings (thank you for reporting your incident to the police) because not all incidents are reported. Only by having continued reports will we increase the police patrols here. We ARE all about that!

Ok, Ok, I waited a while before follwing up just to give an opportunity for a response to be posted. It hasn't been. First it's posted that the guy isn't a COPS member, complete with an indictment toward anyone who would dare say anything negative about the HOA. You know, the whole part in yellow, including the part about opinions and facts. (Yellow) Now he IS a member. (green)

I would expect the HOA to at least acknowledge that they were wrong in their accusations since "the facts" were such an important part of the post. Again, nice PR work HOA, but after living in a BIG city prior to moving to River Trails, it's just politics as usual.

Pablo, I would like to apologize to you for the somewhat jacking of your post. My hope is to raise the awareness out there that we must look out for each other.  Even though COPS has the best intentions, we are responsible for our neighbors safety. I myself am tired of politics.

Any leads/news on the trailer?

The gentleman in the white truck use to be a Citizen on Patrol for River Trails.  In fact, he took over the program for a few months and then I took over 3-4 years ago.  Shortly after I took over, he decided he did not want to be a part of the River Trails COP and patrolled for another neighborhood. Just recently, he resigned from the entire program.  Patrollers should have magnets on their cars that say "River Trails Citizens on Patrol"  They should be wearing baby blue shirts and a id badge.  As of just recenty, that gentleman should not have either.  COP's are not to approach people. They are merely eyes and ears for the Police Dept.

His and any others involved have made it a persoanl pursuit.  My group will not get involved with the ATV issue.  My stance on this issue has been communicated to that individual and to the East Division Command Staff.  I stand behind the fact that my group will stay non-partial.  I'm concerned with burglary of motor vehicles, burglary of habitats, etc.

You will not find my patrollers going thru the woods tracking down fisherman, atv's, etc.

Since90's...you seem to have a lot of time on your hands.  Why don't you step up and help prevent some of the very things you are so concerned about.  I'm sure the HOA needs some help.  I know I cetainly do....care to join COP?

Let's put some of that negative energy into some good positive citizenship.Wink  I'm serious! Your ability to analize a post for accuaracy and contradictions and all the time you have available makes you an excellent candidate for COP.  I think you would really enjoy it.

Who are you anyways?  Care to share?  Just curious!

I need volunteers people.  Next class July 12th. 8 hour class and a 8 hour ride in with Fort Worth police officer.  One hour a month thereafter.  That's all!

Great reply!!! You are doing a great Job Melissa.

I much rather see kids out having  a great time and ride their ATV than to sit around doing nothing or doing drugs.  Why do people get so uptight over such trivial things?  At least they are not the one's stealing trailers and weed eaters.  I didn't know any of this was going on but blown away by all the comments on this site about these bored people who do nothing but whine and complain about kids trying to have some fun on their 4 wheeler but don't have the time to volunteer to patrol our neighborhood looking for thieves.  Reminds me of Mr. Wilson on Dennis the Menace...always a grinch somewhere in the neighborhood with a sour attitude.   The hour spent on this web site or spent calling the police about a 4 wheeler could be spent patrolling around looking for thieves or letting people know their garage door was left open.
