I am Sgt. Brian Foley, Commander/ Response Area One, which includes most of Mount-Holly Huntersville Road, Eastfield Road and part of Statesville Road and this community.
This alert is for the following communities in Response Area ONE:
Holly Ridge
Recently this town home community experienced a series of Larcenies from Auto during the early hours of Wednesday morning, February 4th, 2009. Based on information from several persons whose cars were entered, we believe this outbreak happened between the hours of 5:00AM and 8:00AM.
There were seven (7) reported entries made into parked cars on Reindeer Way, Sleigh Bell Lane, Holly Ridge Boulevard and Christmas Court.
Six (6) of the seven cars entered appear to have been left unlocked by the owners.
We believe that the suspect or suspects may live in Holly Ridge and be walking in the early morning hours in the neighborhood, possibly to a school bus stop or a transit bus stop.
There has been no violent crime associated with or interaction between the offender and any of the property owners in any of these incidents.
We will be walking in your neighborhood on Thursday and Friday afternoons distributing this notice and crime prevention information. We hope to meet many of you; if we aren't able to personally speak with you, I'd like to make sure you do the following to ensure the safety of your property:
- Lock your car every time you park
- Do not leave any valuables such as cell phones, cash or laptops in your car
- Do not leave valet keys or extra keys in your car
- Do not leave personal information such as social security cards, checkbooks, wallets or identification in your car
- Do not start your car to warm the engine/interior and leave the vehicle unattended
· North Division will also be conducting immediate additional operations in your neighborhood which may include undercover officers in unmarked vehicles. You may have already seen an increased presence in terms of marked police cars; this will continue until we identify suspects and make arrests or the crimes cease.
Please contact us with any information you may have regarding these crimes. If you see a suspicious person or vehicle, please call 911 and tell them you need an officer to respond to your location. Give an approximate address and description of the person (race, sex, height, weight and clothing type and color) or vehicle (make, model, color, number of doors and a license plate if available.
