The "crime" ACORN committed was to  register poor people to vote, many of whom were black and tended to vote Democratic.   Keeping a voter off the rolls who will vote against you is the same as you voting twice.

The allegations resulting from the undercover hoax were all dropped as far as I can tell

It looks like they didn't have enough technical evidence in that incident to make a criminal charge stick.  Just like they weren't able to convict John Gotti for quite awhile.     But Acorn sure as heck fired all those involved!  Why was that I wonder.  Acorn has been convicted of various counts of voter fraud around the country.  They have been proven to be crooked.  Anyone that defends them has to be crooked in their heart also.

By your criteria I'm crooked in my heart.   ACORN got a bum rap based on an edited,cut and spliced tape, with dubbed audio paid for by a right winger and shown on and promoted by Fox News.   Unfortunatly when Fox aired it the rest of the media thought they had to report on it too and none of them did the research to determine if it was true.

Dan Rather lost his job over a more believable hoax (if it truely was a hoax and not fact) than this but that doesn't happen at Fox.
