We will be happy to invite Mr. Newell to our next meeting.  Good idea!

This evening RTHA board members met with board members from South Lakes of River Trails. We specifically asked about the use of the lake area. They are going back to their members for input and will let us know what the outcome is. They could not give us a definite time line for that response. We will update the board as soon as we have a decision.

I'm not up on my fishing hunting laws; do we need a fishing license to fish in a private lake?

Do they test the water quality in a private lake, or the quality of the livestock in it?  Manybe their mandatory hoa dues will tke care of it!

I spoke with our area Game Warden Michelle Mount (817.343.8817) moments ago.  She indicated that because it is considered a private lake a fishing license is not required.  I also spoke with her a little about rather it is "catch and release" or not.  A year ago or so, I read on the TPWD website that it was, due to Trinity River overflow/flooding in the area and it did say that the "fish may contain mercury".  She did concur that there are certain parts of the Trinity River that contain high consentrations of chemicals (mercury being the most prevalent). She mentioned especially if its a part of the Trinity that may receive runoff from a golf course.

My children fish there frequently but, they stricktly do "Catch and Release".  I hope that atleast residents from either River Trails neighborhood can continue to fish there.  Often throughout the school year after school, I could find my 16 and 7 yr. old fishing there.  It keeps them out of trouble and away from bad influences that are possibly lingering elsewhere.

I do get a little infuriated when people from outside of either neighborhood go there. And, I will be slightly disappointed if we cannot go there anymore. Especially because my group mainly made up of River Trails residents, patrols the Lakes of River Trails as well.

Just my thoughts....
