Obsessive lawn maintenance

Posted in: Mt Tabor
I have a neighbor--a very nice man--who I swear to God mows his lawn two, three times a week. My kitchen window, is directly across the street, and the noise from "Lawnmower Man" comes screaming in the window. He also has one or another house beautification projects going during the spring and summer. He is insensitive to the disruption this noise and commotion makes. There's not a dang thing I can do about this but express it here. If "Lawnmower Man" paid as much attention to his or his wife's real needs, I think we'd all be better off. There are more important gardens to tend, but this guy is OBLIVIOUS.
What have I Done!

Thank you so very much for your concern. I too am about to loose it because of Lawny's excessive and insensitive outdoor life. After reading your thoughtful piece I've come to a decision. I've often wondered about why he doe it. Life for us used to be so simple until one day Lawny came home all excited and rushed me out to look at what he was calling ol' blackie. Ol' blackie turned out to be a 5 hp. Briggs w/a thatching blade option and too many other feature to list. I'd lost my dreams that day but hadn't noticed it. Now, after your kind article (if your in the kitchen window now you will see me waving thanks) I've done what should have been none long ago. I've set the mower depth to 8, the lowest on this model and installed the thatching blade and while Lawny is at the plant I'm going to remove the lawn and move back to Mom's.
If you look out the kitchen window while I'm doing this please accept my regrets for the noise.
I want to leave you with one thought while you gaze out from your kitchen bunker. Please remember that "through the crawlspace of time sashay wild beef".
Peace,
Holly

Better Idea

I know of no lawn that needs mowing more than once every two weeks. Even if one is obsessive, once every week would keep it very even and neat.

So, obviously he is not doing it for the sake of the lawn or the appearance of the property, but either to ''show off'' his equipment, or to get outside for some fresh air and excersise.

In either case; MOST people don't have the time or energy to even do their lawn once a month; SO why not encourage him to find the worst looking lawns in the neighborhood, and volinteer to do theirs? He could take rotate between the different properties and the whole neighborhood would look imaculate. He would also get his fresh air and exercise and show off how good his equipment is.

And, maybe when he comes home, he might actually start thinking about his family????

lawnmower man

On our block we have ''power tool man''. Every week end all we hear is the screaming of his mowers, trimmers, and sanders etc. My idea would be to have a desinated period of time once or twice a week where we all agree to enjoy the silence.
