Helping protect Mt Tabor

I agree with Bob of the Mt Tabor Neighborhood Association, when recently he said,
''The neighbors of Mt Tabor and citizens of Portland owe you (Cascade Anderson Geller) and the rest of the vigilant citizens involved in this issue a great big THANK YOU!!

You deserve a medal!!''

Bob is referencing the latest development in regards to the Mt Tabor park maintenance yard.

Here is a letter Cascade Anderson Geller just recently wrote:

November 15, 2006
Dear Oregonian Editor:

Citizens discovered the deal far along in the process, otherwise Mt. Tabor Park would have been further whittled away, and most likely by the November 15, 2006 date set with the clandestine agreement with Warner Pacific College. This sounds a warning to all that big changes are afoot. Whereas, eight years ago City Council voted for a moratorium on the sale of park land, things have shifted. ''Everything is on the table,'' park officials answered, one year ago, at a City Wide Team for Portland Parks meeting, when asked if parks could be sold to offset a staggering maintenance backlog. No public process is needed to sell public ''surplus'' land. Zoning changes trigger public input, but the public parleys with the new owner, not their elected officials. Voters clearly support park measures, but a strong message needs to be sent to City Council that parks are not for sale, lease or any type of privatization.

Sincerely yours,

Cascade Anderson Geller
