Park Cleanup Day - 07/14/2003

Sep 12, 2003

Thanks to all that joined us for the park clean-up Saturday, June 14th, 9 am - Noon!

We had over 25 volunteers working hard on the list of items below. The park really looks great and the repairs should last for many years to come... 48,000 pounds of sand was spread, 500 pounds of debris was hauled to the Phoenix dump, 30 boulders were placed along the road and over 6 gallons of paint/stain was applied to the new pump house, tables and playground equipment! We even had 3 mowers and a weed trimmer running most of the morning.

I purchased 2 long water hoses and 40 lbs of grass seed. Even though I watered for 12 hours over the weekend I didn't get a chance to spread the grass seed.

Also, I intend to install shelves and hooks in the pump house to store a "small amount" of maintenance supplies. I'll straighten up things over the July 4th weekend.

I'd like to organize drop-in volleyball and horseshoe games on Saturday nights. I don't know how to get the word out short of making a sign.

Thanks again everyone!
Steve
