As reported in The Oregonian on Jan 20 1999 Mayor Katz held a news conference to announce Campus Crime Stoppers which will operate similar to the current Crime Stoppers Program.
But the telephone number, 916-3222, is a school police number and the program focuses on incidents involving young people.

The program, which will pay students an amount of money based on the severity of the crime reported, will be launched in Portland, Parkrose, and David Douglas schools.
