Dear Arthur and friends,

Happy New Year and many more.

I could not sleep on New Years night for two reasons:

One:  I wonder how many homeless can survive in -20 wind chills. Interesting enough, the wind sounds as if jet airplanes are directly hovering over ones home.

Secondly, does anyone know how the 40-60 homeless Pawtucket residents are helped each night?   I know Access RI has some program operating from St. Paul's Episcopal Church.  How does the program work?

May your 2009 be joyful and healthy.

Peace,  Jim

I believe the access program is a case management program to assist people in their developing self management.

Along with them and the St Paul's shelter accomodates those that show to their max. capacity...and excess are at Crossroads and other places...but with the wind chill, I am sure they relaxed some of the rules to maximize the need of those with no shelter.

Note the excess food from the Jan 18th potluck party will go to St Pauls shelter folk as in the past. This party is for a special treat for us as well as our homeless neighbors.

We too can chat about ideas for this and other concerns on Jan 18th. May all our dreams be realized in this coming year and solutions be found for those concerns.
