- Our new Crime Prevention Officer is Officer Lisa Hamman at 444-7246. Lisa is our Neighborhood Watch point of contact. One of her tasks is to do Home Security Surveys and if you would like to sign up for a survey, contact Lisa or myself. We'll also assist with "Operation Identification" and we have two "engravers" available.

Home Security Surveys - The Home Security Survey is done by an Officer who physically inspects your home and recommends the proper installation of basic security hardware. Many of us have had this free invaluable 20-minute inspection.

Operation Identification - Operation ID is done by the homeowner with an "engraver" marking valuable property, such as electronics, with your own personal number. The item and the number are recorded and held for safekeeping by the Police Department in event the property is stolen.

Fire Department Home Inspection - The Fire Department's Public Education Office coordinates home inspections by a member of the Fire Department. The inspections include recommendations and also a complimentary smoke alarm. Call 578-7025.

UPCOMING EVENTS:

Wednesday, July 8th, from 3 PM to 5:30 PM, the Colorado Springs Utilities Department will have an Open House at the site of the new Substation; at the south end of Pulpit Rock Drive. They have done a good job in keeping the residents aware of their plans.

Thursday, July 9th, beginning at 7:30 AM, the Park Board will discuss the upcoming budget and one item is work proposed in the Pulpit Rock Open Space. Some of this includes fixing the drainage problem at the end of the street, building a wall with a three-foot gate, restoring the damage done when large vehicles made a road into the park, tearing up the asphalt and replacing it with grass, and fixing of the erosion in the Vickers Drainage where gas and water mains are exposed. Everyone is invited to this key budget hearing; to be held at 1401 Recreation Way which is located north of Uintah off Glen Street (just east of I-25). It is extremely important to have neighborhood support at these budget hearings.

On Tuesday, August 4th, The Colorado Springs Police Department will be sponsoring our community's involvement in the Annual National Night Out. From 7 PM to 10 PM on Tuesday, people all over the country will turn on their porch lights and spend these hours in front of their homes with their neighbors. The purpose of this project is to demonstrate the impact neighborhoods have against crime when they unite in a common goal. We encourage everyone to light up Pulpit Rock on the 4th of August.
