Ocotillo

Well I'll be...they actually have some sort of timeline in place. Why the Fall 07 schedule? I don't know but its something. Engineering for something like that shouldn't take that long especially if they are using an on-call..more political red tape, I'm sure.

We are working now on a couple of Ocotillo projects. One will be to mill and resurface the area that is failing. The engineering for that is currently underway, and we will bid the work out for completion by contract. We expect to be under construction in the fall. The reason we are engineering it is to make sure the new surface will withstand the heavy equipment that uses it.

We are also doing the engineering associated with constructing east-west connectors from Ironwood to the Maricopa County line. One of those is the widening of Ocotillo from Ironwood to the west (from 2 to 5 lanes). We will fund that construction as funds become available - primarily through impact fees that new development must pay. The other east-west connectors will be at Combs, Pima, Germann and Pecos - which should help your commute to Williams Gateway. I envision some of that construction to be started in early 2008 - we know that is not soon enough, but we continue to plug away.

We will have to continue to patch Ocotillo until the resurfacing gets started - please bear with us.

Thanks, Greg Stanley
