RANCHO ENCANTO USES RADAR "SMART BOXES"

The Rancho Encanto Neighborhood is one of the first neighborhoods within the city of Phoenix to use the police radar "Smart Box". The smart box is a computerized device that is mounted and connected within the police radar trailers. In the past, the radar trailers could only display the vehicle's speed. With the smart box, the radar trailer not only displays the speed for the motorist, but also records the number of vehicles that pass, their speed and the time of day.

This information is collected then uploaded into a computer which gives the police the ability to determine if vehicles are speeding, the time of day that most speeding is done, and the number of vehicles in a given time period. With this information, the
