Burglars prefer homes that are easy to enter and that appear to be unoccupied. So here are a few simple and inexpensive ways to keep your home off the hit list....
LOCKS - Lock your windows and doors even if you will be gone only a little while. Burglary is a crime of opportunity and an open door or window is an invitation. A professional can be in and out of your home in minutes or even seconds.
CLOCKS - If you will be away overnight or longer, use clock-timers on lights in various rooms of your house to give your house a lived-in look after dark. The last thing a burglar wants is to meet up with an irate homeowner.
MUSIC BOX - Leave your radio or television playing when you are away from home, even just for the workday. The sound of music or voices coming from a home is a real deterrent to burglars. A timer on a radio can be used effectively when you are away for an extended time also.
