What is C.O.P.?
The Bexar County Sheriffs department along with the Spectrum HOA, initiated a program called Cellular on Patrol (C.O.P.). The program consists of volunteers from the RedBird Ranch community who donate their time to patrol their neighborhood by driving their own vehicles, bicycles or on foot. The object of the program is to provide more eyes and ears on the streets observing and reporting crime and/or suspicious activity. Program guidelines prohibit volunteers from actions that would place them in a confrontational situation. Participants will patrol at a minimum of 2 per patrol, will wear C.O.P shirts and or ball caps. Participants may patrol any number of hours per week; but each participating neighborhood association must show a combined total of at least eight hours per week by its membership. Each volunteer must document his/her activities during patrol and forward the information to the Capt of the RedBird Ranch COP program, which will in turn be forwarded to the Bexar County Sheriffs department.
