My name is Kenneth Carpenter and I am president of the Red Oak Civic Association. Several months ago an attempt was made to rezone two parcels of land in our subdivision from A 1 residential to commercial. Our association met with the applicants and our Councilwoman, Mrs. Martha Jane Tassin who is also the Chairperson for the Zoning Committee. What was supposed to be a simple rejection of the applicant's proposal because their proposal was a violation of the Horizon Plan, quickly turned into our biggest nightmare. Shortly after Ms. Tassin was elected her views and promises seemed to very rapidly change.
After much runaround, discouragement and manipulative shenanigans our chances of preventing the Rezoning effort to an applicant that had some 80 arrest (mostly drug-related) on the property that he was going to move to the rezoned parcels were fading. At this point of great discouragement and loss of zeal I fortunately came into contact with William Fontenot associated with your office. It is impossible for me to express how expertly and with great patients and caring he lifted my spirits and skillfully guided our association to a victory that would have otherwise been impossible without his help!
The case is too long and detailed to go into. But it was because of Mr. Fontenot aiding me and constantly encouraging my persistence the Red Oak Civic Association received a unanimous 9 to 0 vote from the Zoning Committee.
I am 61 years old and I have learned that in all professions that I have dealt with the quality of the service are an indicator of the people at the top. So my thanks to you for having Mr. Fontenot associated with your office.
